I want to let my local scrapping and stamping friends that I will be scrapping/stamping with friends from 5:30 pm tonight, until @ 4:00 Saturday afternoon in the basement of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon, right on Hwy 23/W Fond du Lac St. But here is the great news: I am having a sale. I will be having my annual sale, selling The Angel Company products for 20% off and only 10% of your order for shipping costs! I will be closing the sale next week Friday, because next month, Fond du Lac County goes to 5 1/2% sales tax . Hey, I try and save you every penny. One little hitch though, you must pick up your order from my house here in Ripon, or have someone pick it up for you, whatever works, and one more plus...Bryan still goes to Princeton quite often, so if he could drop the items off at one house, all Princetonites can pick it up from there, but you will have to work that out :-)

I'm back...

I have been having major computer problems for the past couple of weeks, so I am now looking through 528 emails, and also into buying a laptop computer, and that, my friends, is why I haven't been posting lately. I also got to see my grandson today, so I dropped everything, just to be with him for a couple of hours today. Just being with him, even for a short time, gives me a warm fuzzy :-)
So this card I made was super easy. I used a digital stamp freebie from HERE The card base is Kraft, followed by green glittery by DCWV, followed by white card stock, run through my printer to get the digi, and then run through the Big Shot with the Top Note Die. On the inside, it says "This Bud's for You". This card for an older 70ish man. I sponged the Top Note with Marigold, and orange inks. Added some Reece SWIC from TAC, and punched out the bottom with my scallop punch. That's it!

Time Goes By So Quickly

I've got cards done, but just haven't found the time to update my blog. My grandson's birthday party is this Saturday. He turns 2 on Sunday. The time sure does fly by,when you're the Grandma.
Remember when I said I had a bunch of Thank You cards to make? Well, a few people got one that looked like this. This is so easy to do. The craft paper in the back is just one piece, measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I took a piece of ivory cardstock and folded it in half, so that it was 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". I put my cardstock on the top note die, making sure that the top of the cardstock was about 1/4" down from the top of the die. That way, when you run it through the big shot, you come out with 2 top note dies that are hinged together. So actually, you flip the top note open to see the sentiment inside. The kraft cardstock is just for looks. I took my fancy scissors to the edge of the kraft paper, so it didn't look so blah. I then stamped versamark on the stamp, and then into the water based ink I wanted, and stamped the card. I then put embossing powder on top, gave it some heat, and did that for the rest of the stamps. Then when everything is embossed, I took some blue ink, and sponged it over the whole thing. And then I wiped the ink off of the embossed images. Easy Peasy.

Update on my Copics...I need to watch some more videos on you-tube! :-)

It's been a while...

I know it's been a while since my last post, but I've been a little busy. I am posting this Halloween card, before my grandson even gets it. He turns 2 years old on the 25th so I better start thinking about making that card. Do you want to see this cutey? His mom posts pictures of him on her website. The last picture shows him wearing a green pail on his head. I got him that for playing in his sandbox, but he has decided that it should be a hat instead. He's so darn cute with it on, and he knows it. Check it out.
I made this card, that is suppose to look like an acorn. The Angel Company lets anyone download the template, so if you're interested go HERE, and then click on the words "Acorn Template." My newest adventure has been trying digi stamps for sentiments, as I have a hard time getting sentiments to stamp correctly, because of the loss of strength in my hands caused by my MS. So they show up great on one side, and really light on the other :-). I found this digi-stamp the other day, as a freebie, and I thought it was cute, so I downloaded it. I made the stamp large enough to fit nicely on the acorn. I colored it with my Prismacolor pencils. The strip on the top is from the Mimi collection. It's a green design, but I sponged it with orange ink and I like the looks of it. I picked up some 3-D foam stamps at Joann's the other day, so the glittery leaf, yes it is a leaf, is in the upper left of the brown cardstock. It looks a lot better IRL. I happened to have some eyelets that I want to get used up, so I used my Crop-a-dile to put them on with. The orange one is a pumpkin, and the white ones are ghosts. Now, onto my new news. Right now, sitting in my living room, in the unopened box, are my new Copic Ciaos. The Angel Company is currently carrying them until the end of the year. I have been reading and reading about how to use them, and I'm hoping that they will really improve the looks of my coloring. I can even use my Prismacolor's with the Copics. After doing this post tonight, and linking most of the things I used to make this card, the dollar signs are flashing in my head as now I know why I am broke all the time :-) However, it has taken me a long time to get all these things. The Copics, I only ordered the first set, as there are 4 to choose from, are my Christmas present to myself, and no, I'm not waiting until Christmas to open them. They will be getting used later tonight :-) Just remember, the Copics are only promised to us until the end of the year, so if you want to get them, now is the time. I love this time of the year, when you look outside and see all the beautiful colors of the leaves and gourds and all that Mother Nature gives us. Take time to enjoy the view!

Getting better at card making

In the last post, I told you that I had a bunch of Thank You notes to make, and share with you, but this one was a special one. I'm beginning to think that they are all special. The picture has a black background, so the Kraft Cardstock is the base cardstock. The stamp set I used was Love and Laughter by The Angel Company. The set is only $12.95 and has many uses. The sentiment says "may your days be filled with Love and Laughter". The friend that I gave this card to, is going to get a frame and hang it on a wall at her house! Wooo Hooo...does that mean my card is going to be published? The Thesaurus says that published means "formally made public". It will be on her wall for all visitors to see. So in my own little world I am published! I told her it is one of a kind, as I inked the whole tree and its leaves up with markers, and it took a long time to do that, so anyone receiving a card from me with this stamp set, will always see the tree in all one color from now on. And yes, it is embossed. This one, I did a great job at embossing, but in the next post, I will show you a couple of cards that I did a terrible job of embossing. I may be embossing challenged-that might be a new illness ya know?? If it is, I'm the first one to get it, and I promise not to give it to anyone. And it better have my name in it somewhere.

Lots of Thank You Cards to be Made

Since I am still recovering from my surgery August 20th, I have received many blessings from friends and relatives. Some people sent cards, others did errands, some just stayed with me, and then there was food!!! The word "food" means the really healthy stuff, and the not so healthy, but "oh so good" stuff like cookies, and cake, etc ;-) Now that I am starting to feel better, I am cruising around the Internet looking for ideas, as it is time to start making Thank You cards. The deco-flower is a digital stamp. Head over to MAGIC IN THE AIR to get a FREE digi-stamp. There is a different stamp available every Monday, with a challenge! I decided to use Craft Cardstock as my base, followed by some Blush cardstock, not TAC, and then some rosy colored DSP I found in my overflowing scrap pile, followed by White Cardstock with the digital stamp on it. Everything is colored with Prismacolors and an Aqua-painter. I just got my own photo corner punch, so had to try it out. I paper pierced for the first time, so I'll take all helpful comments or criticisms. Finished the card off with the purple ribbon, and an orange eyelet using my Crop-Dile and a Thank You brad. Oh, and I almost forgot, I used a deco scissors on the corners of the cardstock.

A Great Lookin' Card

My BFF had her birthday on September 11th. Did I happen to mention that she is a Stampin' Up! demo and she does awesome cards? I new I wanted to make a card using all of The Angel Company products, as I'm a demo for that company, so the heat was on! What to do, what to do! I felt like I was back in 5th grade Art Class, and you were going to be critiqued, and you knew it. Now mind you, my friend never said a word to me...I was putting all the pressure on myself. So, this is the card I came up with. I'm thinking it looks pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! My BFF has always said "It's all about matting" so I knew I had to do some layering. I started out with some purple cardstock as my base, followed by a mat of black. I then went into my Soar With It Collection, called Angelee and found some nice fall colored DSP. I then used the top note die and made a black or was it dark brown bottom layer. I then took some ivory paper and made another top note die, but this time, I trimmed of the edge of it, so you would see the brown layer beneath it. I then went to work on that ivory piece I just die cut with my Big Shot. I used a 'new to me' stamp, that I got off of Ebay called Crackled. It is a retired TAC stamp. That sure did make a great background. I then used a flower stamp from the Treasure It set. I believe it is called 2 step stamping, where you put lighter ink on the flower, and then use the outline of the flower stamp, and use a darker color. I then used Tim Holtz's Distress ink, called Tea Dye. I finished it off by putting some antique brads on the top notes, and tried to brighten it up a bit by putting some pink ribbon on it. I hope you enjoy the look of it, as much as my BFF and I do! I even think The Angel Company would be impressed.

A New Card finally!

My DS and DIL had their 8th wedding anniversary in August, and this is the card that I made for them. Of course I CASED it, what were you expecting :-) from HERE. I used just blue and white cardstock, the colors of their wedding.
Tim Holtz has a new product out called Distressed Stickles, and I added it to the flower, after the ink was dry. It gives it a shine...that you can't see, and a texture. The flower is from Stampin' Up! and everything else is mostly done with my Big Shot. As you can see, I used a swirly design texture plate for the bottom mat, and then I used the Swiss dots one for the strips.
That's all for today, I have to go make a bunch of Thank You cards, but I will post again soon, as I have another one to show you, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Especially because it was a birthday card for my BFF, who is a Stampin' Up! demo, and does gorgeous cards...oh, the pressure was on!

It's been quite a while since I updated my blog. I am still recovering from surgery that was on August 20th. I haven't been making any cards, so I thought I would share a joke with you, that my friend emailed me. I'll get a card up real soon. :-)

An elderly couple had dinner at another couple ' s house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.
The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, ' Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great.. I would recommend it very highly.'
The other man said, ' What is the name of the restaurant?'
The first man thought and thought and finally said, ' What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know..... The one that's red and has thorns.
''Do you mean a rose?"
''Yes, that's the one" replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, "Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?"

Looks fantastic in real life

This is by far, the best card I have ever done. The problem is, is that you can't tell it by looking at the picture. It looks so awful on the web, that I don't know where to start describing it to you. First, the base cardstock is a purple from SU! Then I took some yellow designer paper, that has a light print on it, and ran it through my Big Shot on a texture plate, so it has risen bumps on it. I then sponged on a couple of different colors, but only to the raised area. Then I sanded on it, just to get some more 'pop' effect from the texture. I had stamped the little guy in the tub a few weeks ago, colored him, and just knew I would use it some day. So his day finally came. The red thing he's hanging on to, is a cup of coffee. I stamped the word Happy Birthday, and then used one of those fancy cutting scissors, that put a neat little edge on a rectangle. Then I sponged a little lavendar around the edge. The flowers across the top look horrible in this picture and I don't know why, because IRL they are white and purple. Here they look yellow and black. And the best part of this card, which you really can't see very well, is that I used some Bliss Blue ink and just put a few light lines of it on the water in the tub. Then I glued some SU! Dazzling Diamonds on it. Does it ever look fantastic. Just like the best, most relaxing bubble bath evah! It's still the best card I have done so far in my card making, I'm sorry that you don't get to see it. And no, I don't have my name in the bottom corner of the real card, just for the one published on the web.

Another Birthday Card

Just a quick post of a card that I did yesterday. This is made from all TAC paper and stamps. I did however add stickles to the cherry to give it a little sparkle, but the camera didn't pick that up. It was very quick and easy to do. But I want you all to know that I CASE'd it from Brenda. When I first signed up to be a demo for The Angel Company, she, as well as other Angels, sent me cards to get ideas from, so she gets the creative award for this card, if there is such a thing.

I have a bad headache so this was a short post, so that I can go to bed early.

Back from Scrapbooking

I'm really tired, but wanted to get this post up before going to bed. We scrapped until 5 am this morning and then we all headed to couches to take a quick nap. One girl was up by 7 am, and the next one at 8:15 am, and at 10 am, someone came and woke me up, as I was in a deep sleep. But I grabbed a cup of coffee, and went right back to scrapping. I've posted 2 different pages that I did.
The first one is a picture of my son, sleeping in a hospital bed, after being up all night waiting for his precious son to be born. And then again, sleeping at home, you'd think he had went through the labor...lol And they were very worried that their rat terrier would not like the baby, as she thought she was the baby, but you can see, they all got along just fine.
The next page shows my grandson at 8 months old. For Father's Day we went to the zoo. Even though the picture in the middle looks like he doesn't want to be there, he loved it, especially in the fish enclosure.
I used Kalediscope Boyz paper from TAC for most of the layout and matting. If you like this paper, it is not expensive, it's only $6.95. It really helps making the layout easy. I'm going to bed, have a great day, it's going to be hot and humid Sunday with the temperature around 95 degrees. I'm going to go and see someone tomorrow that I haven't seen in about 5 years, because he moved to New York. He hung around our house quite a bit when he was younger, as he was friends with my son, and we kind of took him in under our wing. My son flew out to New York on Friday, as his friend was getting married on Saturday, and they, the bride, groom, and my son, are in a car, as I write this, headed back to Wisconsin already. So, I'm suppose get up by 8 am, to go to meet the new bride and groom. Catch you all later.

I'm still here..just busy

I'm getting ready for my scrapbooking weekend that starts tomorrow, so this is going to be a short post....me??? yeah, right! I've always been a talkative one! I saw my grandson today, so I'm in such a good mood.
Anyway, the card that I am posting, has already been mailed off. This girl, about 13 years old, found out that she had leukemia in November of 2007. She got bone marrow from her father, and after months in the hospital, she got to come home and resume her life. She was the official spokesperson at our Relay for Life rally this past April, saying that she was cancer free, although she was having some slight back pain. Well, last month they found out that her cancer has come back, and from the way I understand it, it is up and down her spinal column. She has went through some intensive chemotherapy, and it has helped somewhat, and now the doctors are prepping her for rounds of radiation. Considering what she all has to go through, my problems don't feel as big now. Her faith is what brought her through this illness the first time around, and so I'm sure she could use some extra prayers from everybody.

What I would like to ask you to do, is send her a card, as this is the one I sent off to her. Her address is:

A Little of both

First my rant:
I have never gotten that "awww" sight when I've seen a plane. I just know that they get me from one place to another, faster than driving. Well, once a year, the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) is held in Oshkosh, WI. I live about 18 miles from the airport that puts on this event. In order to land at the airport, all planes that are going to be landing, must circle my town. And from my understanding, the best time to fly is in the morning. Well, I have the problem when the pilots think morning is anytime before 8 am. I am a late night person, have been all my life. But I hear the planes starting to fly by my house every morning at about 6:30 am. It's been every morning for the past 5 or 6 days, and so I got about 5 more days left. This event show means a lot to people, as some fly all the way from Australia to see it, and the hotels are booked a year in advance, but not all people are airplane buffs, like all people aren't card making buffs.
Rave:
A friend and I got together and organized a scrapping/stamping get together. Anyways, it starts Friday afternoon, August 7th and goes straight through until Saturday night. It will be an awesome time.

I wanted to show you a card I made. I used mostly TAC products. In the middle of each square is a piece of Mimi cardstock. This is still available, but this year it is called More Mimi, because the DSP is now double sided. I did use SU! ribbon to make the little brown bow.
So it is all done and I will be giving it my Aunt for her birthday at the end of August.

One of My Original Cards

I can now post the card as my friend has received it.

I used Stampin Up Blush paper, DSP from who knows where, and a stamp for SU also. I think it is called Wanda's Wit and Wisdom. It says-just to show you how sorry I am for forgetting your birthday...I'll forget mine next year. I know you can't see it too well, but I used my Scor-Pal on the DSP to make a grid pattern on the paper. The camera just didn't pick it up well at all, but if you look real hard, you can see the grid marks. The 3 heart embellishments were put on with my new Crop-a-dile. And because I pinched it so tightly, I couldn't move them into their desired places, so if you got any helpful hints about using the Crop-a-dile, I'll take them.

Oh, and one other thing, but you have to keep this a secret :-)

I have now found the perfect place to take pictures of my cards. The bathroom. Yes, you read that right, the bathroom...right on the toilet. I couldn't find the right lighting to take a picture and wa la I got this idea. My bathroom has a sky light in it. The sky light is right above the toilet. So I made sure that the lid was down, as that is very important, because if you miss this step, you probably will have to start all over. Back to the story, (I always get off track), with the white lid down, and the card on the lid, and the sun shining all around (now I'm singing that tune) , I took the picture. Fantastic idea, don't you think?

Anyone else have their photography studio in their bathroom? Well you should think about it.

Back to the song I was singing. It is from when I was a girl scout, many years ago. But the song went-a boy and a girl in a little canoe and the ___________ all _____. I think the bold letters above, fills in the missing words, but now I'm not sure. Maybe I should send this off to "Don't Forget the Lyrics". I obviously would never win on that show.

Yep, It's Monday Already

So, as promised, I did go shopping at Hobby Lobby last week, and I came home $50 lighter...heee heee

Well, I actually wouldn't have spent that much, except for the fact that I had my niece along with me, and as we were headed to the checkout, she saw the paper storage rack that she knew I wanted, and it was on sale for 50% off. I really do wish that over the years, I would have kept track of how much money I have saved myself on things that were on sale. You know what I mean? So instead of it being $50 it was on sale for $25. So I just was thinking about whether or not I should purchase it, when my niece said, go ahead and get it now, and if you decide once you get it home that you want your $25 back, we'll just return it. So I said "OK". Well, you know that was not a smart thing for me to do. Cuz once you get it home, and assemble it, well, you aren't taking it back.

Actually, had I not bought the paper storage rack, I would've spent only $25, and that's not bad at all. However, all the stuff I got was on sale for 50% off, so I saved myself $100 all together. I'm a brilliant shopper...chuckle, chuckle, snort

Now to my card. Remember I told you about a friend that got badly burned in farm accident. Well, this is the card I made for her. And I know that some of you wanted to know how she is doing. Well, I guess most of the burns are to her face, arms, and stomach region. They had already started to do some grafting, using skin from her leg, but then they had to stop, as she got a blood clot in her leg. Her dad says they read each and every card out loud to her, but he said they keep her quite heavily sedated, so he doesn't know how much she is grasping. I'm thinking of making a card for her father, as he is in his 80's and this is tiring on him. It's almost a 2 hour drive to the burn center, and people from my church are giving him rides, whenever he wants to go. But I'm sure there is not much he can do, once he is with her. But I am sure it brings him peace, to just be by her.

Back to the card. I used the gatefold, and I love it! Any time I am stumped on making a card, this is the fold I will go with. The left half of the "Thinking of You" is glued to the left side of the card. So you grab each side, and it opens up to the saying in the middle. The square section in the middle is what I like the best. You can attach it, looking like a square, or you can attach it like I did, in the diamond shape. It all depends upon what you stamp in the middle, like a flower, or a saying. And because I critique my stuff over and over again, I will tell you that I didn't have my white background when I took the picture, so you're seeing my Berber carpeting! Nice color, huh?? lol

A Little Monkey Business

I thought we were finally going to get some rain today, but I guess I was wrong. We sure do need it.

I belong to a group on the Internet, and one of the ladies on it, said that her 2 1/2 year old, broke his leg. So he is not to be running around on his cast yet, so the ladies decided that we should send him some cards. I made one yesterday, so I thought that I would show it to you. You can tell that I love to color, but it takes so much time! I wish I could be like others, that can slap a great looking card together in 15 minutes. Maybe someday I can just stamp, without coloring.

The card is on TAC cardstock, the dark yellow, almost gold, and then a layer of brown, and then an ivory layer. Is that enough layering, Denise???? ha ha

The monkey is from TAC, the wording is from Stampin' Up...just gotta give everyone some credit :-)

A friend gave me the little flowers, and I just drew in the stem, freehand. Can you believe that?? Me and freehand in the same sentence??? I can't either.

The background is sponged on with Bliss Blue on the top part of the card, and then it goes into Forest Foliage at the bottom, but you can't tell that from this picture. It looks better IRL.

I'm planning on going to Hobby Lobby tomorrow, as they have stamping stuff on sale at 50% off. How can anyone say no to that???

Book marker

Bookmark...super easy!

So I decided to make something different than a card. I found this site where someone had instructions for a Bookmark. OMG is it easy to make, and it works great! You can find the instructions on how to make it HERE.

So the on picture is just the book mark and the other picture shows you that it DOES work!! Will wonders never cease??

The "bookworm" I got from HERE I have never used a digital stamp, and wanted to find out more about them. So, one night, as I browsed the Internet, I found this website, and they will send you one digital stamp free, just to try and see if you like it. So this is the freebie sent to me, and all I could think of, was making him into a book marker. I accidentally made him too big, so I did the first book marker according to directions, and found that there was not enough room for my worm, so I made a second book marker, just a bit larger.

As you can see, I did some coloring with my Prismacolors and aqua painter. And I recently got a crop-a-dile and so I just had to put a couple of eyelets on...super easy with the crop-a-dile. It's a bit bulky to use, but it sure is better than beating on them with a hammer, and a lot quieter too.

Well, we are finally getting some much needed rain, but along with it, is coming thunder and lightning, so I am going to shut my computer down, and comfort my little dog.

A man's birthday card

Hi everybody,

I never got out of my PJ's today. I had an IV injection of steroids yesterday, and only slept 4 hours last night, and then I took a 3 hour nap this afternoon. I know that steroids cause insomnia, but only 4 hours??? And this weather isn't helping any. Ok, I'm done complaining...but call if you want to hear more. lol

Anyway, it seems like I do a lot of cards for men, but I think it only feels that way, because they are so hard to do. You can't add ribbon, or anything girly, or frilly. No flowers, no pink cardstock, the list goes on and on, so I always have to put on my thinking cap. Boy, cards for women are so much easier.

So I had to do a birthday card for a guy that never takes anything seriously, so I made this one for him. I used Floyd from HERE... I love to use the Art Impression stamps when I want to do something fun. Anyway, on the front it says "As you are getting older" and on the inside it says "if you ever need a helping hand, just look at the end of your arm". I'm sure he'll find it funny. I used TAC Kraft cardstock, I used Prismacolor watercolor pencils and the aqua painter to color Floyd. I put a couple of eyelets in, and tied some brown hemp, just to make it look manly. I think it turned out okay.

One thing I ask of you, is that an old friend of mine got hurt in a farm incident yesterday and has 3rd degree burns over 70% of her body. She is currently at a burn center here in WI, but she could use a LOT of prayers.

Celebrate Birthday & Fourth of July

So I have a friend that has a birthday on the fourth of July. How great is that? You have the day off of work, you get to see gorgeous displays of fireworks, and maybe have a glass of wine. It's a day to sit, relax, and enjoy the good ole US of A!

So if the picture of the card looks funny, it is because it is almost midnight and I have no good lighting in my home to take a good picture except in the bathroom. So I don't have my usual background setting so I used a white bath towel. So if you look at the bottom of the picture of the card, the white towel is what you see, the white does not belong to the card. Any way, at about 8 pm tonight, I called my BFF and asked her to bring over the paper, the punch, the dimensionals, the background stamp and the ink! I, however, did supply the stamp that says celebrate on it (too funny). God bless my BFF, she came over and helped me put this card together. And no, I look at other cards on the internet constantly, so I CASED this card from here. I usually try to put a twist of my own on it, but seeing as I wait until the last minute to make this card, its resemblance is very close.

Well, I hope you all have a safe and wonderful weekend. I am spending mine with my grandson, and I can't think of a better place to be, than with him.

I've been MIA, sorry

Time sure has a way to get away from me. This card, I hope I didn't show it in an earlier post, was made using the TAC Flutterby stamp set and the Spring into April set, I think. Diana will let me know if I am wrong!! She's my upline, and knows TAC like the back of her hand. Anyway, I put a few brads at the bottom, some glitter glue on the wings, and colored the rest with Prismacolors. Sponged on a very light layer of green ink.

I need to make 2 cards by Friday, so I can't go on and on, but I wish everyone a Happy AND Safe Fourth of July. I will be spending Saturday with my grandson, all day!!! yea!!!

He's 20 months old and I hope he doesn't get afraid when the fireworks have those ones that go so high up and then just "bang". Maybe we won't be going to the fireworks. Who knows, but I'll be with my special little guy, who's going to be getting a card!

Challenge card

Well, I tried this challenge, that my upline had for her Wednesday challenge, and this is what I came up with. I'm not to crazy about it. First of all, I have a really nice camera :-), but have no idea how to work it correctly :-( so sometimes I get really bad photos. Anyways, this one is just being posted because of the challenge, I'll have something better up Friday.

It was hot and humid here in WI yesterday and today, but some severe storms are headed this way, and should be here in an hour or so, so I wanted to get this posted, before I turn off my computer for the night. Stay safe.

Father's Day Card

Well, here is the awesome Father's Day Card that I made for my son. First, the card is done using The Angel Company's Reece paper line, and a tag from there as well. I attached it with hemp, and added a screw type brad to it. Seeing as I have no "Happy Father's Day" stamp, I just wrote that in by hand. The other picture is the inside of the card. I framed it with some more of the Reece's DSP, but the card has a sentiment on it, that I am not sure where I found it, but it sure has a lot of meaning. I hope you can read it, but if you can't it says:

"One of Life’s greatest joys has been raising a son like you
Seeing you grow from the little boy you once were
To the special man you’ve become
Has brought more satisfaction than you could ever imagine

But watching life come full circle
Seeing you as a father
Giving the best of yourself and your heart to your own family
Brings even more happiness

That sentiment just called to me. My son called me and told me that he received the card and loved the meaning of the sentiment. I spent the whole afternoon with my son and family today (Sunday), so I have to post one more picture, and that is of my lil grandson, James. He is 20 months old, and is testing you all the time, to see if your really going to come and get him down after he has crawled onto the table and decided to walk on it! He is my precious little boy. His mom always finds the funniest hats, because he is so blond that the sun would burn his head in no time. We were just going to head outside to be by the turtle....His sand box is shaped like a turtle :-)

Thinking of You Card

I made a card for a friend of mine, that's just having some health problems. Actually, let me restate that. About 2 weeks ago, I decided to do a card challenge, that used no DSP (designer paper) and no ribbon. So I made this card out of my favorite colored cardstock (SU! Groovy Guava) and then I used plain white cardstock for the front and I sponged 3 different colors on it.
I went a little crazy with embellishments, but I still like the way it came out.
I used my oval Nesties with my Big Shot, I LOVE that Big Shot! I should have textured the white cardstock with the Big Shot, but I didn't know if we could for that challenge, so I didn't. And then I finished it off with the "Believe" brad. So, the card looks very simple, and not over-done.
Hopefully Monday, I will put up the card that I sent my son for Father's Day.

Treasure It

So, my upline had a challenge for us, stamping flowers. So I mine is quite easy. I used The Angel Company's Treasure It stamp set. The set is only $10.95, so if you're interested in ordering it, just email me. I love the saying with this set, and thought it should be on the front of the card, and not hidden inside. I used TAC's white cardstock, and then put on some black, and then I picked yellow. I love where you get 5 different colors of yellow in one package, 5 sheets of 5 various shades of yellow, from dark to light. I am currently working on a different card that uses a darker, almost gold colored yellow. For only &7.95, you can't go wrong.
Gotta go back to my card making, before the weekend begins. Never enough time for stamping then. Saturday I am going with a bunch of girl friends to watch the play "Menopause", so it sure should be fun...I can feel a hot flash coming now!! lol

Simple cards

For both of these cards, I used 1 stamp out of TAC's Spring Flowers stamp set. I still have not mastered the bow tieing technique...ugh! I even bought this bow maker and it obviously doesn't help me!! That is why only one of the cards has a bow on it. I think I'll just stick to bling and brads.
Here's a short story I have to share. The birthday card was made for a friend of mine, whose birthday was last week, or so I thought. Well, lo and behold, it was her husband's birthday and not hers, so I told her to just give it to him. Then I remembered, that on the inside of the card, I wrote "I miss our talks". Hope he liked the card. (blush, blush)

Another Male Birthday Card

How many people do you know that are 97 years old? If you really think about it, that is a really long time. I mean, you lived through no TV, to black and white TV, and then colored. And from horse and buggy to cars, and more. In his childhood, there were no computers, cell phones, inside bathrooms, and the list goes on and on. Anyways, I love this special man, as he seemed to take me under his wing a bit, after my parents died (within 19 months of each other). So I made him this birthday card, all out of The Angel Company's Reece Collection. Even the tag is from there. I added a little bit of hemp instead of a ribbon, as I think of ribbon being too feminine for a man. Anyway, I hope he likes it.

Male Thank You card

So I want to send a note of thanks to the guy who worked on my computer. To me, he's still a boy, as I've known him for years, and if I accept that he is a man, then I have to accept the fact that I am getting old!!! But he's married, and they have their own house, so I should start facing the fact that I am starting to age, but I'll put "starting to age" on my list of things to do tomorrow, which never gets done anyways :-)

So, here is the card that I am sending out to him. The base card is TAC's Kraft cardstock. I took a leftover piece of blue cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot, texturizing the card (I hope you can see the creases). I then found a piece of black paper laying around and used my Fiskars scalloped border punch on it. I glued that to the blue paper, and then I put 2 brads on that I thought looked masculine-one looks like a phillips screw and the other is straight. I glued that piece onto the base. I then took a piece of TAC's "Sands of Time Collection" which I made a square, 3" x 3" and the used my Fiskars punch again to get that cute little design. Then with an oval nestie, I used the same blue cardstock, ran it through the Big Shot, added the Thank You stamped in black and then clear embossed it and set it with my heat gun. I loved using so many of my small scrap pieces up.

Tri-Shutter Card

I made this anniversary card for a dear friend of mine. I got the idea from http://craftiblog.wordpress.com/2009/04/23/2009-04-23-quad-fold-card-sample-tutorial/ but mine is less fancy! I got a Scor-Pal about a month ago, and hadn't used it much, so I decided to take on this Tri-Shutter card. Now I REALLY love my Scor-Pal, because that made this card way easy to do. Because this is the first time I made this card, I think it came out all right.

The lady who did the card in the above URL, also did this one http://craftiblog.wordpress.com/2009/05/26/2009-05-26-5-5-x-11-finished-tri-shutter-sample/ and that is soooo good.

Anyways, back to mine. It is done with TAC paper, some stickles, some ribbon and my scalloped oval nesties. I used the Sands of Time Collections paper, and used the butterfly from the Flutterby stamp for the front which is put on with a dimensional, and I used a little heart from the April monthly special stamps, but I don't remember the name of the set. Old age is setting in!! And a few eyelets and that's it.

The first picture is of the card, when you take it out of the envelope.

The second picture is when you have it fully opened.

The last picture, I put the card on its side so that you could see the folds, just in case you were thinking about making this card.

This card ends up fitting in a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" envie if you can believe that. But it is a bit thick, so plan on adding some extra postage if you are mailing it.

A Birthday Card

I love how this card turned out. I started with yellow bazzil card stock from The Angel Company, added a black mat, and added some of TAC paper that my upline sent to me, called MIMI from the SWIC (Soar With It Collection-only $6.95), used my oval nestie to put the Happy Birthday (from the Forever Friend set).

I put a purple eyelet in every corner, and put some ribbon on, and it was done. Easy Peasy! Even for a beginner like me. My friend loved the card.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to put up another card tomorrow. With my computer down, I had time to make cards :-) and clean the house :-(

My computer broke down

I'm finally back up and running, after being without a computer for over a week. I am still reinstalling programs. But between God and Ryan, they performed a miracle and got most of my data recovered from my hard drive that had decided it wanted some time off after working so hard for me. However, we didn't replace the hard drive, so I'm not absolutely sure this will be okay forever, but it does give me time to back things up....that I never did before. I thought I had lost all my grandson's pictures and more. But thanks to God and Ryan, I'm back! lol

Hope you had a nice weekend. Today, Monday, I spent the day with my grandson and he is such a character at his age-18 months. So here is his new picture. Don't you just love his hat! He is so cute, but I may be biased!

Mother's Day Card for DIL

Well, I can't take much of the credit for the card that I mailed to my daughter-in-law for Mother's Day. My BFF also does cardmaking and has done it for many more years than I have done it. She showed me the card that she was sending to her DIL for Mother's Day, and I said "I want one just like that". But with my grandson's picture on it!! lol
Anyway, my DIL took pictures last year of her tulips and so that is the picture I chose. Then I found a couple of pics of James that would fit right in the middle of the flower. So this is how the card came to be! Whoops, I take that back, I found the pictures, and then gave them to my BFF and she "made" the card for me. I owe her big time, as it turned out so well, or at least in my opinion.

National Nurse's Day Card

On May 5th, it was Nurse's Day so I made a card for my nurse, Bonnie.

I used Stampin' Up tangerine, as my base card, I added some DSP, and some light brown paper I had laying around for the mat behind the vase. The stamp was from TAC and is the Forever Friends T-3098. I used prismacolor with my aquapainter, and colored til my heart was content. Then I added some colored brads. Then I put the ribbon on, however, it was late at night and that is why the ribbon isn't quite centered properly.

But that's okay, she loved it anyways, as it was made with love.

Just Updating

I know it's been a couple of busy days here. Yesterday I went and had my teeth cleaned, and no cavities. Yeah!!!!! I've done a couple of cards, but can't show them yet, because they haven't been mailed yet, and I'd hate for them to see on my blog first.

I bought some stuff off the "bay" that I really don't need, but that's never stopped me before! lol

Another Birthday Card

I love my Art Impression stamps, especially the Golden Oldies. They are all so fun to work with, but you have to like coloring them, and that takes time. When I hear where it took someone 15 minutes to make a card, I sometimes wish that I could just do one that fast, but most of my stamps, I just love to tinker with, whether it is adding some bling, or stickles. Just something to make it stand out. I LOVE this card that I did, and I hope my friend that is getting this card, doesn't check out this blog until after she gets her mail in tomorrow!
The photo of this card really doesn't look anything like the original. She "Edna" the name of the stamp, has on a yellow swimsuit, and then I used blue stickles dots on it. Also on her ring, I put a dot of silver stickles. Then in the corner by the balloons, I put some purple stickles. Did I ever say that I LOVE stickles???
And the sentiment on the inside "Happy Birthday from one glamourous babe to another!"

The Angel Co Flutterby

The other day I saw where someone had been sponge brayering, and it was so pretty that I had to just try it, especially because I don't have a brayer, but I have sponges. So I used the Flutterby stamp from T.A.C. This stamp is retiring :-( , so if you want one, contact me as soon as you can, before they run out. So I used Bliss Blue for the lighter shade of blue, I forgot what the dark blue shade is called, and the I added Marigold to the wings and a bit of pink by the antenna, which doesn't seem to show up. Underneath the butterfly, I used my Big Shot to texturize the paper. I hope you can see it.

A card for a dear friend
